Winter Into Spring, A Mixed Media Encaustic Workshop

Winter into Spring is a workshop inspired by the intersection of these two dramatic seasons.  During this afternoon of art, we will take time to re-visit our own treasury of sights and smells, remembered experiences and familiar rituals associated with the changing of the seasons. And then, through guided exercises we will capture this wealth of sensual imagery in word, marks and color.
Encaustic painting can reveal layers of meaning while creating a narrative that is both complex and beautiful. We will be using the information gleaned from the earlier exercises to create two encaustic paintings on 300 lb. watercolor paper. No experience is necessary for you to take home a finished matted painting that captures the beauty of your memories and experiences.  The class meets from 1:00-5:00 pm at Michelle's Bulverde area studio.
The Fine Print....
Project workshops are limited to six participants to allow for a community experience as we work.  The encaustic technique classes are limited to four students so that each student has a workspace that includes heating pallet and fusing tool.
Registration is preferred through my workshop site using Pay Pal. All materials are provided for all of the studio workshops. If a workshop is sold out, email Michelle at michelle@michellebelto.com to be put on a wait list.  Feel free to call with questions: 210-393-9768.

Learn Something New

New Ways to Learn in 2017...

I always feel energized and renewed after a workshop.  If learning something new is on your resolution list, I am offering several new formats for 2017.  You will most definitely find one that fits your schedule and interest.

If you have always wanted to experience encaustic, but didn't want to commit to buying anything until you know for sure that you like it, try one of the Spring one day Introduction to Encaustic classes held at my Bulverde area studio.  You will be able to learn the basics of working with the luscious texture and brilliant colors that is part of the encaustic experience.  In the afternoon we will add mixed media materials and build up smooth, transparent layers that will astound you with the depth you will be able to achieve. All materials will be provided so there is no investment.  Lunch is also part of the class fee. Spring Classes: March 18 and April 8. For more information and sign up go HERE.

R&F Sponsored Comprehensive Encaustic Workshop

If you have some experience with encaustic or want to dive right in, I will be teaching a comprehensive three day workshop at Southwest School of Art March 10-12, 2017. This workshop is co-sponsored by R&F Paints, meaning students will be taking home nearly $100 in paint supplies for use after the workshop.  Most of the other materials are provided.  Register at Southwest School of Art. This class fills up fast. Contact me directly if you are unable to get in.

Saturday Afternoon Art

In 2017 I invite you to treat yourself to a Saturday Afternoon Art Outing! Once a month or so, I will prepare an "fun" art project. Each class will involve learning a new technique or exploring new materials. I'll put it altogether in a structured step by step process so that even if you are new to encaustic or art, for that matter, you can create something wonderful! These workshops are especially fun to share with best friends or family members. The first Art Outing is scheduled for Saturday, March 1, 2017 from 1:00-5:00.  For more information and registration, go HERE.

Authentic Art: Creating From the Inside Out

If you want an amazing art retreat experience, join me for a week of Authentic Art in Kentucky this May at the famed EncaustiCastle.  Registration is now open.  Learn how to carve your own canvases for the ultimate in encaustic and explore your own process as we journal, tell stories and explore ways to get to the heart of our own authentic self and work. Take the whole week and treat yourself to continuing with Geoffrey Gorman as you find the soul in discarded materials to create amazing sculptural works. Registration is now open.  Go HERE for more information and registration.
